Together with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), we are now launching a unique partnership with the aim of inspiring and challenging the real estate industry to help create sustainable urban and regional development that serves the community in Stockholm by 2050, in line with the 2030 Agenda goals.
The goal of this partnership is to understand how Fabege, the real estate industry, local politicians, businesses and trade associations can actively contribute to sustainable development in society, taking into account different future scenarios.
As part of the project, we will be exploring our role within urban development, the aim being to analyse the interplay between us as an urban developer and the surrounding community.
The analyses will be based on the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement and include questions such as:
- How can Fabege contribute to sustainable urban and regional development?
- How can Fabege and its partners continue to contribute to economic development and sustainable social transformation while helping to achieve the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on which the 2030 Agenda is based?
- How can Fabege be a driving force for change, rather than just responding to changes in society?
The project also aims to discuss and develop the unique role of the real estate industry in the transformation to a sustainable society while mapping the challenges. This will be explored in group discussions with local politicians, municipalities, behavioural scientists, researchers, boards and other stakeholders. In the discussions, explorative scenario methodology will be used to analyse alternative development paths for the Stockholm region and how Fabege can contribute.
This will be followed by an analysis of Fabege’s current operations in order to provide a definition of the key areas that Fabege must focus on in order to reduce its environmental impact.
