How We Built Our Techarena Stand with 99% Reclaimed Materials

At Fabege, we view everything we build as an opportunity to demonstrate how circularity works in practice – without compromising on design or experience.

As the majority owner of Strawberry Arena, Techarena is a natural meeting point for us. Tech is created by people, and we create the spaces where people can meet, collaborate, and develop new ideas. Our stand at Techarena in Strawberry Arena was constructed with a minimal carbon footprint, consisting of 99% reclaimed materials.

Key features of the stand included:

Lighting

Over 110 lamps and fixtures were borrowed from a vacant premises to create a striking ceiling installation over the stand.

Flooring

More than 120 square metres of reclaimed sheet metal was used for the floor.

The Bar

Constructed using reclaimed bricks left over from our Kvarter 1 project in Haga Norra (which itself was built using 50-year-old bricks). The bar was then clad in reclaimed metal sheeting.

Acoustic Wall

50 sound absorbers were salvaged directly from a demolition site to construct a functional acoustic wall.

The only thing that was new? Biodegradable ice cream tubs.

Our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond temporary installations. Whether we are constructing new buildings or renovating existing ones, we maintain a rigorous focus on circular construction. In Solna Business Park, we have operated a dedicated warehouse for reclaimed materials for many years. We have also set an ambitious circularity target: all our construction projects must achieve a circularity index of at least 20 per cent.
