We remember our founder, Erik Paulsson

Our founder of the modern Fabege, Erik Paulsson, has passed away after a period of illness. He died during the night of  Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

During his 83 years, Erik achieved and created more than most — and what he built, not least our Fabege, is truly unique.

Erik was quick, unpretentious, business-minded, and curious — a true entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. He loved our customers and always saw opportunities where others saw obstacles. His personality and way of being laid the foundation for what is still our DNA today, through our core values SPEAK.

Erik’s life’s work has shaped not only Fabege, but also large parts of the modern real estate industry in Sweden. His drive, curiosity, and heart will forever live on in Fabege – and in all of us who had the privilege of knowing him and continuing to build on what he once started.

“Erik Paulsson was one of the foremost figures in Swedish business – a great entrepreneur and businessman who, for more than 60 years, created so much and meant so much to so many. His drive and honest way of doing business have served as an inspiration for new young entrepreneurs, and through Backahill, he has given so much back to his hometown. Erik had a big heart and was generous in both words and actions. Today is a day of sorrow,” says Lennart Mauritzzon, CEO of Backahill AB.

At Fabege, we remember Erik with deep affection and warmth.
