Fabege climbs the GRESB rankings

GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) produces an annual ranking of the property sector from a sustainability perspective. In this year’s survey, Fabege rose to 94 points out of 100, which means that the company is ranked highest in the Office sector in the category of listed real estate companies in northern Europe. The average score in the survey was 73 points.

GRESB’s data is used by more than 170 institutional and financial investors to monitor investments and navigate the strategic choices required for the industry to transition to a long-term sustainable future. The GRESB survey covers a broad range of areas, including environmental aspects, social sustainability, governance and monitoring. Over 1,800 reals estate companies in 73 countries participated in this years´s ranking.

“We have lofty and ambitious goals that drive the sustainability work forward at Fabege. To achieve these goals, we as an industry must work together and find new innovative solutions. Measuring and monitoring the performance and success of our work to learn from what others are doing well is an important part of the way forward. The GRESB result is proof that we are doing our job properly,” says Mia Häggström, Head of Sustainability at Fabege.

Fabege’s goal is to actively contribute towards making the Stockholm region an even more sustainable location, and the company sets the bar high for future-proofing both properties and its customer offering over time. The long-term approach and concentrated property portfolio enables the company to make investments in all parts of the urban environment, such as by helping to improve access to public transport, making life easier for cyclists, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and creating safe street environments with green spaces and an attractive range of services.

Fabege’s sustainability goals include:

  • Carbon-neutral management by 2030.
  • Halving scope 3 in new production by 2030 (compared to 2019).
  • The entire property portfolio will continue to be 100% eco-certified.
  • Continuing to have 100% green financing.
  • Average energy consumption in 2023 shall amount to an average of max. 77kWh/sqm Atemp,(currently 74kWh/sqm Atemp).
