Digital innovation in the heart of Stockholm City

At Fabege’s property at Drottninggatan 29, Swish has created a modern, playful and welcoming office – a place that works in everyday life and where people genuinely want to spend time.

When the payment service outgrew its previous premises, the move became an opportunity to shape a vibrant workplace that supports the company’s needs and creates an inspiring working environment, with a clear focus on reuse, giving existing materials and furniture a new lease of life.

Today, Swish is an integral part of everyday life in Sweden. What began as a simple idea – making it easier to split a restaurant bill – has evolved into a service used by millions of people across the country. The development of Swish began in 2012 as a collaboration between several of Sweden’s largest banks, and behind the seamless user experience is now an organisation with extensive technical expertise and a continuous focus on innovation.

When Swish reviewed its office requirements, it was therefore not simply a matter of finding more space, but of finding a workplace that could support pace, collaboration and continued growth.

– For us, it was not just about gaining more space, but about creating a workplace that functions in everyday life while also helping to drive us forward, says Urban Höglund, CEO of Swish.

A Place That Works – Inside and Beyond the Office

Drottninggatan 29 offers a location where accessibility, connectivity and proximity to the city’s amenities come together. For Swish, this means the workplace is not only about what happens inside the office, but also about how everyday life functions around it.

The area offers close access to public transport, services and meeting places. These are important factors that make the working day easier to manage while also contributing to an attractive working environment over time.

– The location close to Stockholm Central Station is important for us, particularly as we also have offices in Östersund and colleagues living outside Stockholm. It should be easy to get here, easy to meet and easy to make everyday life work, says Urban.

An Office People Want to Come To

Swish had a clear ambition: the office should be a place people want to travel to, where they want to spend time, feel good and be inspired. Together with Studio Lena Nyholm, a clear direction was developed based on the keywords courage, creativity, pride, flexibility and passion. These values guided the entire process, resulting in a working environment that is welcoming, cosy and comfortable, while also being bright, functional and distinctive in its design.

Reuse has been a central part of the project. By making use of existing materials and furniture, the team created both a more sustainable relocation and an office with a personal character.

Swish City – An Idea Brought to Life

The office concept, Swish City, was developed as a way of giving the environment a clear identity. Inspiration was drawn from a vibrant summer city, filled with colours, shapes and details that create variety and energy in everyday life. Meeting rooms have been given playful names, the interior features unexpected elements and every detail has been carefully considered.

At the same time, there is a clear balance in the design. The overall expression remains refined and professional, allowing creativity to flourish without becoming overwhelming.

– We wanted to create a workplace that feels like Swish. An environment that is warm, playful and professional, and that reflects the pace of development within the organisation, says Urban.

A Collaboration That Creates the Right Conditions

The collaboration with Fabege has been an important part of bringing the overall vision together. From location and property to design and functionality, the focus has been on creating the right conditions for the business – not only at the point of moving in, but in everyday operations over time.

– It has been a solution-oriented collaboration where we have been able to find good ways forward together. It has been about understanding our needs and translating them into a workplace that genuinely works, Urban concludes.

A Workplace for the Next Step

With its new office at Drottninggatan 29, Swish has created a workplace that makes a real difference in everyday life. An environment that supports both how they work today and how they want to evolve in the future – where functionality, atmosphere and context come together, and where it is easy to feel at home.
