Tailored for the future: Fiskars chooses longevity at Kungsbroplan

After more than ten years at the same address, Fiskars faced a choice. Their space requirements had changed, but their love for the location remained. Through a creative and pragmatic dialogue with Fabege, they succeeded in creating an office that is not only more efficient but also better equipped for today’s hybrid way of working.

Fiskars, with its world-renowned brands, is a company where design and function are paramount. It is no coincidence, therefore, that they thrive in the characterful building at Kungsbroplan in Stockholm. When Jan Antonsson, Head of Scandinavia at Fiskars, began looking at future office needs, the goal was clear: they wanted to stay in the area, but the premises needed to reflect modern reality.

"Ten years ago, the working day looked completely different. Today, we have a different need for digital meeting facilities, Teams rooms, and social spaces. We felt we wanted an office that was more tailored to our actual operations," says Jan.

Quality over quantity

In collaboration with Fabege, the premises were redesigned from scratch. Moving from over 800 square metres, they have now relocated to more tailored and optimised square footage within the same building – without sacrificing any functionality. On the contrary.

"It was a very positive and pragmatic dialogue. With the new office solution, we have exactly the same number of meeting rooms as before, fantastic social areas, and a brand-new showroom. We can now welcome our customers and partners into an environment that truly signals who we are and what our brands stand for," says Jan.

Kungsholmen’s "soft city pulse"

The location at Kungsbroplan is described as optimal. With just a few minutes' walk to Stockholm Central Station and the Arlanda Express, the office is a perfect hub for an organisation with employees across Sweden and the Nordics.

"The proximity to transport links is fantastic and is an incredibly strong argument when recruiting. At the same time, we like that this is the 'softer' side of the city. On Kungsholmen, you have the water and greenery right outside your door, which provides a calmer atmosphere and perfect opportunities for lunchtime walks along the quay," Jan explains.

A Partnership Built to Last

Staying in the same property for over a decade requires a landlord who is responsive to change. For Jan Antonsson, the personal connection was decisive in their choice to renew their commitment to the building.

"Our contact with Fabege has been very smooth and attentive. Over our ten years, contact persons have changed, but the handovers have been completely seamless. In the redevelopment process, they were incredibly flexible and solution-oriented. It’s clear they truly valued us and understood our needs. Even the contractors they brought in were fantastic – it has been a swift and smooth journey to our new dream office," Jan concludes.
