Summer in Arenastaden – Hanna af Sandeberg's top tips

When Hanna af Sandeberg joined Fabege in 2008, Arenastaden was still an industrial area. Today, she is Area Manager for a district that welcomes millions of visitors every year – and where her ideal summer day off begins on a hotel rooftop. We asked her to share what makes Arenastaden unique, along with her favourite summer recommendations.

Hanna af Sandeberg, marknadsområdeschef för Arenastaden

Describe Arenastaden in three words.

– Ambitious, diverse and constantly evolving. What makes the area truly special is the mix. Major corporate headquarters sit alongside smaller workplaces, homes, restaurants, the national stadium and a shopping destination. Yet just around the corner you'll find Lake Råstasjön and Hagaparken. You never have to choose between the energy of the city and access to nature.

You've followed the area's development for almost 20 years. What do you think when you look at it today?

– It's rewarding to see Arenastaden established as an attractive destination not only for shopping and events, but also for businesses and people choosing to live here. You can see that in the investments now being made by other developers, including Skanska, Besqab and Vasakronan, which invested in Solna United last year. At this stage of the area's development, it's important that many organisations continue to believe in its future and work together to drive it forward.

What are you most looking forward to?

– In the near term, I'm looking forward to the next phase of the upgrade of Stjärntorget, which is the first place you arrive at when coming to Arenastaden by commuter train. There are some exciting plans in the works that we'll be able to share soon. Looking further ahead, I'm looking forward to the opening of the new metro line in 2028. It will make Arenastaden even more accessible and create new opportunities for businesses, homes and continued growth.

And what does your perfect day off look like?

– I'd start with a walk through Hagaparken and a traditional Swedish fika at Fjärilshuset. Then I'd head to The Winery Hotel to relax by the pool. If the weather isn't great, I'd finish the day by watching a blockbuster in the IMAX cinema at Mall of Scandinavia.
